Do I Really Need a Business Plan?

by Shirley George Frazier

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard people say, “Just put stuff in a basket, add a bow, and sell it.”

Is that really all there is to make money with gift baskets?

After participating in this business for more than 20 years, I can tell you in all honesty that it takes much more to create gorgeous designs and share with people why those designs are an important part of their lives.

This is why a business plan is vital if you’re making gift baskets for money.

If you’re making gift baskets to give to a friend or family member for a special occasion, then you don’t need a business plan, That makes sense, right?

A business plan helps you to map out a strategy to sell your beautiful designs. It’s wonderful to create dazzling gifts, and when you have the right products and supplies, it’s a matter of time before your gift basket is made and ready.

Then comes the challenging part, which is discussed in Chapter 2 of the gift basket book. That chapter, entitled What It Takes to Succeed, includes a full business plan to duplicate for your business. It contains all the important components such as:

  • Figuring out your marketing plan (direct mail, social media, networking)
  • Deciding who are your competitors (specialty shops, variety stores) and who is not (big box stores, mass market stores)
  • Finding ways to finance everything (where the money will come from)

This business plan is the exact model of what I created for myself many years ago, which is why it’s included. I know it works! Order the book here, and create your plan. My success is also a model, and I guarantee that you won’t be disappointed with the results.
